Post-Service Care
In the days and weeks that follow the death of a loved one, we may find that much is expected of us when we are least able to function at our best. Questions arise about such details as grief support, death certificates, Social Security, military benefits, etc. and you may not know where to turn for help. At Bliley's, we take seriously the needs of the families we serve, and we have taken note of the issues and questions that you bring to us. Post-Service Care is a service offered to each of the families we serve. There is no additional charge for it.
Post-service care is simply an extension of the help we already provide. Think of this service as a resource you can draw from, a 'library' of information ready to use. Soon after the funeral you will receive a call from a family service counselor and Mrs. Beth Crescenzo, our Post-Service Care Coordinator, reminding you of this service and how we may be of help to you.
Below you will find a list of some of the most commonly asked questions:
- Where do I go to find a grief support group? -- or -- I can't face the idea of a support group, but I need something that will help me understand these feelings I have…
- What services are available in the Richmond area for the elderly? …for the recently widowed? …for a young or middle-aged widow or widower?
- Do I need to call Social Security?
- When will the death certificates be ready? Who will require a certified copy of the death certificate? Can I make a photocopy of the death certificate?
- Who should I call to learn how to manage a checking account?
- Will you help me apply for the government marker and benefits my spouse is entitled to?
- How do I talk to my kids about death?
- Where do I begin?
It is our hope that you will feel comfortable calling us at any time with your questions, comments and suggestions. We are committed to service, and Post-Service Care is a natural extension of that commitment. Thank you for placing your trust in Bliley Funeral Homes.
