TAYLOR, James C. "Jim," 78, of Ashland, died June 16, 2008. He is survived by his sons, James Courtney Taylor and his wife, Lyn, and John Ashby Taylor and his wife, Lorraine; grand-children, Ryan Manley Taylor and Caitlin Ashby Taylor; brother, Willoughby Payne Taylor; and sister, Sue D. Kimball. Jim was a native Ashlander who graduated from Randolph-Macon College with 10 letters in three sports. He proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and served aboard the U.S.S. Boxer (CVA 21). Jim was an educator in Hanover County Public Schools for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer, tennis player and supporter of R-MC athletics. Jim was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Ashland, where the family will receive friends on Thursday 6 to 8 p.m., and where a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials gifts may be made to First Baptist Church, Ashland, Building Fund, 800 Thompson Street, Ashland, Va. 23005 or Randolph-Macon Yellow Jacket Club, Ashland, Va. 23005.
