HENKLE, John Pressley Jr., was born April 8, 1942 in Charleston, W.Va., and died after a lengthy illness on November 3, 2012 in Richmond, Va. A Richmonder for nearly his entire life, he grew up in Highland Park. He was a graduate of John Marshall High School, proud member of the Cadet Corps there, Army veteran, alumnus of VCU and ODU, and longtime Realtor, first for his uncle, Winfree Slater, and later operated his own brokerage for many years until he retired early due to illness. He had an inherently mischievous yet sensitive spirit, enjoyed reading, food, yard sales, flea markets and loved his family. He is survived by two sons, Chris Henkle with wife, Rachel, of Midlothian, and Glen Henkle of Amelia; three grandchildren, Shelbi, Marissa and John Joseph Henkle; two nieces, Cynthia and Charlotte Henkle, with husband, Jeremy; sister-in-law, Laura Henkle; and three uncles, Winfree, Edgar and Dayton Slater. He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. and Elizabeth Slater Henkle; and elder brother, Bob Henkle. The family invites friends to join them at Bliley's-Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., Richmond, Va., on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and for a memorial service on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, with interment to follow.
