LYNE, William Hugh Jr., passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011. Bill was born December 8, 1913 in Richmond, Va. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Denzil Mundy Lyne; two sons, William H. "Wick" Lyne III of Lynchburg and James E. Lyne and his wife, Michelle; and one daughter, Elizabeth M. Lyne "Liz," all of Richmond; four grandchildren, James Evans "Evan" Lyne Jr., Charles Cavanaugh "Chase" Lyne, William Thomas "Liam" Lyne and Heather Elizabeth Lyne. Bill was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Bessie Dunn Lyne and William H. Lyne; also a sister, Marjorie Elizabeth Lyne. Bill was a veteran of WWII. He served in the Air Force in Abilene, Texas for two years, and was transferred to the infantry and served in Germany until the end of WWII. After returning to Richmond, he rejoined his parents in the Richmond Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Bill, once again, managed the dry cleaning business, which he started before entering the Air Force. When his father retired, he and his mother became partners, she in charge of the laundry and he the dry cleaning business. Later Bill worked in the real estate business, until he retired at the age of 85. In the last 12 years, he has actively visited a friend who was unable to get out and enjoyed daily coffee with new friends at Dunkin' Donuts. He also enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. He was a good man of high integrity. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 16 at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., where a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 17. A private interment will be held at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice or the charity of your choice.
