JOB DESCRIPTION: FUNERAL DIRECTOR

Direct Supervisor: Chapel Manager

Job Summary:

A Funeral Director will:

  • Make initial contact with families to set appointment times for arrangement conferences.
  • Present all applicable personalization options to families.
  • Work all various types of ceremonies.
  • Lead chapel, church, graveside and memorial ceremonies.
  • Take families in for first viewings.
  • Insure that all details and requests by families are carried through to the families' expectations.
  • Provide continuous follow up with families on a regular basis.
  • Communicate closely with Administrative Assistants.
  • Become familiar with driving routes for funeral processions.
  • Make sure that all ceremony arrangement and ceremony details are in order.
  • Insure that all necessary equipment and supplies are ready for use as well as cleaned and returned after use.
  • Communicate to ceremony team all details and expectations for ceremonies.
  • Respond to and follow upon all price shopper calls.
  • Actively promote Bliley Funeral Homes and Cremation Center in the community

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed Funeral Director
  • Must exhibit a high degree of sensitivity, compassion and caring for families experiencing a loss.
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of funeral ceremonies in general
  • Must be very knowledgeable in all areas of funeral industry related merchandise and personalization option.
  • Must be able to present merchandise and personalization options to families effectively
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of pre-need laws and available options.
  • Have a general knowledge of post service care resources available to families.
  • Moderate computer skills.
  • Significant ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask within job requirements
  • Bilingual – ability to speak and write Spanish and English is a plus but not a requirement

Education:

  • Mortuary Science Degree
  • Completed Accredited Apprenticeship Program
  • Experience working as a Funeral Director is preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, talk, climb stairs, and perform computer keyboarding. May need to transport/lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.

Working Conditions:

This is a 40-hour per week, varied schedule position and may require working nights and weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Transfer Specialist

Direct Supervisor: Transfer Team Manager

Job Summary:

  • Safely and effectively transport human remains to Bliley’s Central Chapel from hospitals, nursing homes, and residents.  

  • Respond to phone calls within fifteen minutes of the initial contact and must be available at any time of the day or night.  

  • Keep accurate records of all details relevant to the transfer, including:

    •  all necessary paper work at the place of death
    • all paper work at the place of destination 
    • adherence to all identification protocol required
 

Job Requirements:

  • Personality needs to exhibit a high degree of sensitivity and caring for families experiencing a loss;
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills;
  • Significant ability to work independently without supervision;
  • Good driving record;
  • Must be well groomed and have a neat and clean appearance;
  • Appropriate attire for males is a suit or blue jacket and grey trousers with white or light colored shirt to include a tie, appropriate attire for females is grey/black slacks with white or light colored blouse, sweater or jacket and low heel shoes;
  • Ability to adjust to a changing environment; maintaining appropriate composure;
  • Attention to details;
  • Comply with OSHA Regulations

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: lift, carry, push and pull 100 pounds in different environments including but not limited to hospitals, nursing facilities, and residences.  Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, talk, drive and perform computer keyboarding. 

 

Working Conditions:

On-call 24 hour shifts approximately 3 days per week requiring availability for weekends and holidays.  There is no guarantee on the number of calls received.  In general actual time worked will be less than 20-hour per week.  Occasional out of town travel is required and you may need to drive in inclement weather.

Salary and Benefits:

The position is paid on an hourly basis with a 2 hour minimum assured for each transfer  This position is not exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair labor Standards Act.  Benefits are not provided to part-time employees.

Job Summary:

The Part-Time Receptionist will:

  • Receive all in-coming calls to the Chapel, take messages, provide information to callers, and forward messages to associates as appropriate.
  • Greet families and guests who are attending funeral ceremonies, visitations, or making funeral arrangements
  • Maintain the appearance of the lobby area, as well as a neat and organized work space
  • Arranging, setting and working receptions 

Job Requirements:

  • At least two years previous experience in receptionist duties, to include answering a multi-line telephone, computer and other office equipment. 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, a pleasant personality, and an appropriate and professional appearance
  • Proficient at data entry and computer skills
  • Bilingual – ability to speak and write Spanish and English is a plus but not a requirement

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, talk and perform computer keyboarding. May need to transport items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Working Conditions:

This is a less than 20-hour per week, varied schedule position will require availability for days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION: WEEKEND HOUSEKEEPER

Direct Supervisor: Chapel Manager 

Job Summary:

The Part Time Housekeeper will clean restrooms, arrangement rooms, parlors, lounges and lobby for the two-story Augusta Avenue Chapel. Some tasks you will encounter while cleaning are:

  • removing trash
  • scrubbing counters, sinks, and toilets
  • replacing paper products
  • vacuuming
  • dusting
  • restocking snacks and water
  • wiping down glass surfaces

Job Requirements:

The housekeeper must have:

  • At least two years previous experience in housekeeping
  • An eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, talk and perform various cleaning tasks. May need to transport/lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. Will need to work with cleaning solutions and other chemicals.

Working Conditions:

Standard work hours will be 8:00 am til 1:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Working every weekend is preferred but working every other weekend can be arranged.

Job Summary:

The Part Time Switchboard Operator will:

  • Receive all in-coming calls to the Chapel, take messages, provide information to callers, and forward messages to associates as appropriate.
  • Print of memorial folders, prayer cards, etc.
  • Produce DVD Tributes and Memorial Screen slides

Job Requirements:

The Switchboard Operator must have:

  • At least two years previous experience in receptionist duties, to include answering a multi-line telephone, computer, and other office equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, a pleasant personality, and an appropriate and professional appearance.
  • Excellent data entry and computer skills
  • Bilingual – ability to speak and write Spanish and English is a plus but not a requirement

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, listen, talk and perform computer keyboarding. May need to transport items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Working Conditions:

This is a less than 25-hour per week, varied schedule position will require availability for weekends and holidays as needed. Daytime, evening and overnight positions are available.
